Through Covered California, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance to make healthcare more affordable. This marketplace will allow Californians to shop online, over the phone and in person to find the right health insurance option for them. Through Covered California, individuals and small businesses can compare different health insurance companies and learn whether they qualify for federal subsidies and tax credits. Californians will be able to find out if they are eligible for low-cost or no-cost health coverage through Medi-Cal. Covered California is a part of the state of California and is overseen by an independent board appointed by the governor and the Legislature. Question: Who can buy the new Health Insurance?
Legal California resident, except for currently incarcerated individuals and legal minors, are eligible to buy insurance through Covered California. However, if an enrollee has access to affordable health insurance through another source such as an employer or government program, the enrollee may not qualify for financial assistance through Covered California.
